Accommodations:
All-Inclusive, Mayan-style beachfront inside a mega-resort – Located along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, these 2 hotels are part of the Barceló Mayan Riviera resort complex, and are a popular destination for families and couples. The sprawling property is secluded by more than 120 acres of tropical vegetation and fronted by more than a mile of palm-dotted white sand. The clear blue Caribbean waters are kept calm under the shelter of a protected coral reef that also makes for excellent snorkeling.

Accommodations:
Guest rooms and suites are housed in low-rise buildings of Mayan and contemporary Mexican-style architecture. All rooms are equipped with queen-sized beds, air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, in-room safe, mini-fridge (stocked daily), hairdryer, and iron/ironing board. Every room features a balcony or a ground floor patio. Extra beds and adjoining rooms are available on request. Junior Suites include a sitting area, while Master Suites have 1 or 2 bedrooms, and living rooms.

Dining & Entertainment: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at the 2 buffets. There are 2 dinner-only a la carte restaurants, El Agave offers traditional Mexican fare, while Don Quijote, serves Spanish cuisine. Both require reservations and enforce a dress code. Grilled specialties at Rancho Grande and Captain Morgen's make for an excellent lunch, snack, of informal meals. Drinks are poured at 6 bars, including 2 poolside spots that feature swim-up bars. Nightly shows are performed in The Kukulcan Theater, the largest of any resort in Mexico, with 1,200 seats. Drinks, a DJ, and dancing in the disco set up a lively social scene.

Recreation: The beach is arguably the best on the Riviera, and chaise lounges are plentiful. Volleyball, 3 lighted tennis courts, basketball, and archery are among the land-based athletics. Water sports include waterskiing, kayaking, water polo, and windsurfing. Giant outdoor chess, billiards, mini-golf, and table tennis provide more leisurely options. A 4-hole pitch and putt is on-site, and a 9-hole golf course is only a mile away. Scuba diving instruction is available, and off-site excursions include A spa is connected to the fitness center, and offers a full menu of traditional and Mayan-inspired treatments and massages.

Destination Info
Riviera Maya, located just south of Cancun, is taking shape as Mexico's newest holiday land. This stunning stretch of coastline is filled with scenic and natural wonders, bordered by craggy limestone beaches of sugar-white sand, and lined with palm trees. The jungle descends from the hills, concealing some of Mexico's most fantastic archaeological sites, including Mayan pyramids. Resorts are mostly all-inclusive and confined to a few pockets of developed areas, leaving most of the land uninhabited -- ideal for visitors seeking a Mexican/Caribbean getaway in a beautifully secluded setting.
