Florida Stingrays Football To Play at Lee Civic Center

SWFL's Hometown Team is Back!

The Florida Stingrays reach agreement to play at the Lee Civic Center in 2012

Fort Myers, July 16, 2011: SWFL's New Hometown Team, the Florida Stingrays, have reached a deal to play
indoor football at the Lee Civic Center in 2012. Details of the agreement have not yet been released. The
deal has tentative dates while the team continues negotiations with at least 2 different leagues.

Chris Morant, Head Coach – "We are negotiating with 2 leagues and trying to gauge the best fit for us.
There is also another wild card possibility out there. It is very important that we place our team in a league that will remain successful for years to come. It is only fair for our fans that we make sure we do what is needed to put the team in the best situation. We will announce the league choice in the near future. I'm looking forward to the 2012 season!"

the facility looks. Real football fans want to see a quality product on the field and in the community. That's exactly what we are going to give them!"

The Stingrays played one season at the Lee Civic Center in 2008, but when the original team owners decided to discontinue operations during the 2008 season, a lack of funding forced the team to halt operations. Stingray President, Jay Lawrence, who was VP of Operations at the time, was handed the franchise and he began trying to find a way to bring the team back. The NFL Champion Green Bay Packers provided the way.
