with Dr. Wayne M Burr, MD, PL in Fort Myers,
has prepared a handout for all Wellness Wednesday attendees discussing
Eating at Restaurants and On the Run Without Ruining Your Health.

and how to spot the healthy alternatives on most menus and favorites you already enjoy!
Saving a Life is as easy as A-E-D

In the time it takes you to read this information, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) will have claimed another victim. Statistics show that over 300,000 Americans die of SCA every year. Up to 50,000 of these deaths could have been prevented if someone on scene had initiated the Cardiac Chain of Survival and an automated external defibrillator (AED) had been available for immediate use at the time of the emergency.

The American Red Cross has a vision of one person in every household being trained in First Aid and CPR lifesaving skills, and all Americans being within four minutes of an AED with someone trained to use it in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

My brother's life was recently saved with an AED device in New York when he went into Sudden Cardiac Arrest at a country club. I was surprised to find out that the State of Florida currently has no mandate on having these life saving devices in malls, health clubs, golf courses, stadiums, large venues or other public places where large crowds gather.

AEDs save lives. Period. The American Red Cross will be at Wellness Wednesday on February 24th to share more information on the importance of First Aid, CPR & AED Training, not just for you, but for your employees, co-workers, family members & friends.

Wellness Wednesday has a reputation of having quality give-aways from our generous vendors every month. Why? Because our vendors CARE about the community so much they sincerely want to have their Health & Wellness products sampled by local attendees. Plus, you don't have to buy tickets to win. What could be better? That's right... No Purchase is necessary to win prizes at
Wellness Wednesday. Just attend & participate!

One Mind for Hati

Your help and participation is needed in sending healing energy to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. This will lift their energy and help to heal their body, mind and spirit.

Yes, we know that money and supplies are also needed. However, in this instance all we are asking and need is your energy and time. We've all seen the pictures of devastation and misery. Let's use our energy to uplift the energy and the spirits of our brothers and sisters to help bring them peace in the middle of their storm.

This event is scheduled for February 28, 2010 at 2 PM EST for three minutes. You can focus your energy repeating love and gratitude to be placed in the water or redeemed in the earth of Haiti or use your own method if you prefer.

There is no cost to you for participating in this Global event for just three minutes. Imagine the healing and peace we can cause just by focusing for three minutes 2:00 PM EST.

Mardi Bra's and Boxers

By Della Booth

Take a journey to the Big Easy for something that’s not so easy: battling cancer.

Mardi Bras and Boxers will bring Bourbon Street “uptown” to the Pavilion at Cape Harbour on February 11, 2010, in an effort to raise awareness for the fight against cancer.

Artists will work “under [the] wire” to showcase uniquely crafted bras and boxers that will be auctioned off in this “uplifting” night of fun and masquerade. According to Mardi Bras and Boxers planning committee member ToniRae Hurley of Iberia Bank, “This isn’t just about breast cancer. We are displaying and auctioning artist-created bras as well as boxers to reflect the many complexities of the disease. All cancers touch men, women, and children alike.”

In addition to the auction of bra and boxer art, other items such as celebrity items and cruises, as well as items in support of local restaurants and businesses, will be auctioned off at Mardi Bras and Boxers in an effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Cape Coral.

“With live music, dancing, and performances, you’ll be transported to New Orleans and get a head start on Fat Tuesday,” says Mardi Bras and Boxers planning committee member Barbara Allshouse of Café Pignoli’s. “Another beautiful addition to our evening will be the luminary ceremony honoring and remembering those people we love who fight the battle with cancer.”

So, grab your “doubloons” and give some “support” in a night of fun and philanthropy. All proceeds are to benefit the American Cancer Society and the event is being sponsored by Fox 4, Iberia Bank, Café Pignoli, Realmark Development and Time Realty.

For Mardi Bras and Boxers tickets or luminary purchasing, call 541-5201 (Iberia Bank) and don’t forget to become a Mardi Bras and Boxers fan on Facebook.
